Public methodology
The PropRaw Score is the only publicly documented prop firm rating system in the industry. Here's exactly how it works.
Every prop firm review site has a score. Almost none of them tell you how it's calculated.
We built the PropRaw Score because we were tired of seeing firms ranked highly by platforms that had undisclosed financial relationships with them. A number without a methodology is just an opinion dressed up as data.
The PropRaw Score is calculated independently of any commercial relationship. No firm can pay to improve their score. No affiliate deal influences the rating. If a firm we earn commission from scores poorly, that score stands — and we publish it anyway.
Every firm is scored across five dimensions. Each dimension has a fixed weight that reflects how much it matters to a funded trader's real experience.
The most important metric. A prop firm can have the best rules in the industry — if they don't pay, nothing else matters. We calculate this from verified review submissions tracking average payout days, percentage of traders reporting delays, and whether the firm communicated proactively during any issues. This score updates every quarter or immediately following a reported payout incident.
How clearly are the trading rules documented? We assess whether daily drawdown, max drawdown, news trading restrictions, consistency rules, and one-sided trading rules are explained without ambiguity in the firm's official terms. Firms lose points for vague language, rules buried in footnotes, or terms that have changed without public notice.
A composite ratio of challenge fee versus profit split versus maximum available funding. A $32 challenge with a 95% split scores very differently from a $500 challenge with a 70% split. We adjust for realistic pass rates based on verified trader data, not the firm's own marketing figures.
Sentiment analysis on the support-related content within verified reviews, cross-referenced with average response time data where available. We distinguish between automated replies and genuine human support. A firm that responds fast with copy-paste answers scores lower than one that takes slightly longer but actually resolves the issue.
Track record, years in operation, and absence of major controversies. A firm operating for ten or more years without a payout scandal scores higher than a newer entrant, all else being equal. We adjust for firm age so newer firms are not unfairly penalised for simply being newer — but longevity matters and is reflected in the score.
PropRaw scores are calculated from three sources:
Scores are reviewed quarterly as standard. Outside of the quarterly cycle, a score can be updated immediately if any of the following occur: a firm delays or withholds payouts, a firm changes its rules without adequate notice to existing traders, or a significant volume of new verified reviews materially shifts the payout or support sub-scores.
Every score change is logged on our Alerts page with the date, the previous score, the new score, and the reason for the change.
PropRaw earns affiliate commissions from some of the firms listed on this site. We disclose this on every firm page, every offer, and every link that earns us a commission. See our affiliate disclosure.
Affiliate relationships have zero influence on PropRaw Scores. The scoring methodology was designed and locked before any commercial relationship was established with any firm. If a firm we are affiliated with scores poorly, that score is published without modification. If a firm we have no relationship with scores highly, that score is published without modification.
We will never accept payment, free accounts, or any other benefit in exchange for an improved score. If we are ever offered this, we will decline and publish the fact that it was offered.
This is our commitment to the traders who use this site. Without it, PropRaw is just another review platform. With it, we believe it becomes the only one worth trusting.
